Our Focus

“Our focus is to provide safe, effective, and economical solutions to address the problem of inferior indoor air quality (IAQ) and inefficient HVAC operation as a
result of microbial growth in and on cooling coils.

Mission & Vision

IAQ - Energy Solutions began as a division of Filtration Services Inc., incorporated in Texas in 1974. Long concerned about mold and other contaminants that thrive in HVAC systems, company leaders were disturbed by the growing consensus that these bioaerosols, circulated throughout buildings by HVAC systems, present a serious threat to health.

Around this time, germicidal ultraviolet light technology was introduced to the HVAC industry at the 1994 ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, & Air Conditioning Engineers) Exposition. After extensive research, we partnered with the leading manufacturer of UVC for HVAC technology and became a distributor in 1999. Our commitment then, now, and into the future is to see that germicidal UV lights are installed in every air handler in this part of Texas.

Legacy of Innovation

The Young family has been in the air handling and filtration business since Frank Young started the F. R. Young Company in 1950 to supply HVAC equipment to contractors in the Houston area. The company installed the first Clean Rooms (specially designed rooms with ultra pure air) at the Johnson Space Center and consulted on the HVAC system in the Houston Astrodome, which was the world's first domed sports stadium. In the late 1960s and early 70s, Frank's son Rob pioneered the use of bonded polyester air filter material to replace much less efficient fiberglass filters. Now Dan Young, Frank's younger son, is leading IAQ - Energy Solutions.

Experience and Expertise

Dan learned the air filtration business under his brother Rob and quickly established IAQ Energy Solutions as the “go-to” supplier of germicidal ultraviolet products and expertise. Dan is a member of ASHRAE, IUVA (International Ultraviolet Association), Houston BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), USGBC, HAAHE (Houston Area Association of Hospital Engineers, and TAHFM (Texas Association of Hospital Facilities Managers).

As Dan sees it “Networking with the professionals in these organizations provides opportunities for us to learn about our customers' needs, and show them how this highly beneficial technology can improve IAQ and reduce HVAC energy costs in their facilities. It’s a ‘win-win’ situation.
